Nerd Army by Manchester based designer Hammo and independent clothing label Social Fabrik. Love this illustrative style and subject matter of robots and rubble..
Hammo said of the design… “”I was asked by Manchester-based clothing label Socialfabrik to design a t-shirt for them. Seemed like a good excuse to draw a nerdy kid with an all-powerful army of radio controlled robots!”
Social Fabrik owner Ed Sadowski continues… “That’s the short & simple explanation of how the design came about really. We discussed the general ethos of Socialfabrik and how his design could fit in, there was no brief as such, I just wanted something that typified Hammo’s style. Often his style consists of B-Movie style robots, gap-toothed freckly kids, concrete landscapes or rubble, and that’s what we got!
Hammo’s trademark attention to detail is also present in this design, a trait he believes is essential for getting across personality in characters.”
He was quoted in Computer Arts magazine as saying: “The work doesn’t have to be intricate, but it does mean thinking about seemingly insignificant things, such as the seams on clothing, or the shadow from a pair of turn-ups.”
